Okay as i sit here awaiting for the tranny to arrive i am pondering the thought of what engine to get for it as i've heard its geared quite low. Yet i still want enough power from the engine to be able to get over some obstacles and yet have the torques as well.

When I had my R2 back in the day it was pretty slow. I'd say get a 45t or 35t, with a larger pinion. The 9t is just to small. Or the best thing to do is volt up, but thats a different story.

I haven't switched to lithium yet for the extra oomph. Ya thinkin the 35t would do it. thats what a few other guys are doin. The ax10 i got goin now has that INTEGY 75T (w/ blue light) and dang my slowest walk is still faster than this thing goes :D:D TOO FUNNY!

You can defiantly see a difference going from a stock axial tranny to the R2. And I was running the Goat System. 35t might be a good thing. I still have yet to buy one of those.

35 turn does pretty good on a r2.. personal preference would be a 55turn and a 3 cell..

3 cell lipo
8.4 or 9.6 volt if your esc can hang
13t pinion

I been running integy 55T with 14T pinion on axial tranny. I just got R2 and I forgot to order different 32pitch pinion teeth to test. R2 came with 8T. do you think 8T will the job for awhile? I'm also running 3s lipo on mambaMax. I'm waiting for timberwolf chassis and my friend got my axial chasiss and tranny so I have not source to test the 8T on R2 tranny

any thoughts?:)

Some Hobby shops carry 32 pitch. The 8t is low, real low. IF you can get something higher, try. If not, 8t like anything else will work.;)

OMG they make a 8 tooth pinion! WTH for? Anyways hoping the 14 tooth will do me for a bit.
