Well after a few years away from rc cars, I come back to find all this great scale stuff. I still have my bruisers and mountaineers from when I was building crawlers. I just ordered a new trail finder kit from RC4WD and planned on using a super rooster I have laying around. Just woundering what motor and pinoin I should use for this trailfinder with the R2 trans that will make a great crawler.
Thanks,
Tim

55t- 35t motor will be a great start :) Id start with the 55t and go from there. Depending on how much wheel speed you want :)

i think you should go for the 55 turn motor for mudding and messing around and any thing lower, use for speed. lol as for the pinion, you get one in the package with the trans, i say run that and if you want some thing different they sell some on the rc4wd page here....

make sure thought you get one to fit the trans gears, as they are not the normal size for any other pinions... lol...

Thanks for the help, I have not received the kit yet but I want to get everything together for it. Any recommendation for which 55t motor to go with? I'm also looking at high torque steering servo and a good battery pack. After doing some searching on here and rccrawler.com it seems like there are many options out there.

I use a Hobbico CS-170 steering servo made by Hitec

Batteries are another story and can depend on what you want. Are you wanting Lipo? Do you have a charger/balancer for Lipo?

The charger I have is a super brain 969 which is supposed to charge lipos but I never charged one.

I ended up getting one of those 28 dollar ebay winches, I was planning on buying another mx3 receiver and using my mx3 radio but now I need a four channel radio. I have a futaba four channel from one of my bruisers that I'm not using, and I'm thinking about buying a new receiver for it so my super rooster, winch and new steering servo will just plug right in. Anyone using an older futaba 4 channel radio with success or should I look at getting something new?
