Hello all.

Does anyone know if it is possible to cut off the bottom part of the transmission, and just use the one remaining output shaft connected to a transfer case ? It has both 2wd mode and 4wd mode as i can read, but which output gets disconnected for 2wd mode?

The output you are talking about cutting off is for the front drive.

As to if it will work cut off...I don't know.

Thank you for the reply Racer4life. Can anyone help with a exploded parts diagram? Would love this transmission with only one output shaft.

Awesome man!!!

I had the same idea as well!!!

With some permission from a certain person I may be able to try this ;)

I spoke to Mike about this in an email.

I think it is very doable !

If you lay it on its side its the exact size of an R2 tranny so it will fit right between the chassis !

Would make a perfect tranny to fit with the Killer Transfer case. Three speed and all. Got me thinking!!!!

that would be a great system for the t cases... they would then be a great function and all that..... i think if you cut that out it might be fine.... the top one is the one that goes into 2 wheel drive.... i am not really sure i have never had one of these. lol.... i am curious as well....

what did you use to fill in the gap left by the removed section?

I used some of the parts i cut off. A small 2mm thick piece was made from a piece of aluminium scrap. I will post more pics and specs, and if it actually works. I was able to remove some of the gears and a shifting fork also. They were for disconnecting the front wheels.

Now i have tested the transmission. It works fine even after my cutting and grinding. :p http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll216/Poul_F/3gear2.jpg

Awesome !!! Glad to see you did it!!!

You should be using the Atlas transfer case since it has no gear reduction ;)

Very cool though and it fit perfectly!

Thank you all for the nice replies !
I was thinking since the transmission now has two shifting forks inside, that if they were controlled separately, would it be possible to have 4 gears instead of 3 ? The shifter forks operates on seperate axels inside.
