Hey you all!
You just got yourself a swedish enginefreak to the forum!;)
Now:
The timberwolf has caught my interest and I'm thinking of getting the bolted alum. version... But I've noticed that a few of you change to Axial or HiLift axles? Is the stock axles too weak for crawlin'?
Any tips about this vehicle will be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the forum
i have the bolted alum version, and i found out that the t-rex60 (the plastic ones ) are no good for for crawlin, they are as you say "too weak" and now i'm looking to swap them for other ones... maybe high lift or axial or even cr01's
for now i'm very disappointed with them if i had known that they are so bad
i would have took the alum axles instead or not at all, and would have put some others one from the start  and it's a shame because they look great...
make sure to thread lock all the bolts on the chassis and post pics of your wolf :D
oh and have fun building it ...

You can either puchase a complete kit, or just the chassis.
As for the Rex Axles. they do have some weak spots and we are working to fit that. They were designed for scale and became a crawler axle, so we need to make some improvements.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for your answers!
So far, my plan is to purchase the complete kit... Now, I stuck my nose into the aluminium axle page and found the T-rex in aluminium (thumbs up)... And as far as I got it I need to purchase a set of alum. four link suspension mounts to make the axles ready to be dropped into the wolf? The price is pretty up in the sky but I hope they can take the same punishment out in the woods as the price punches my wallet then (they look very sweet)...? A complete kit that fits my sense of taste checks in at about 950$. *coughing*:o
The only question related to the kit would then be: Is there a need of a heavy duty transmission or is the one coming with the kit capable of allround offroading and crawling without breakage? I'm not looking for hardcore ultra crawling though...
For extra details: I will drop in an 50t motor with a 2 cell LiPo

as for the trans, the r2 trans stand up to a lot of beatings... you can get the heavy duty one but unless you are running brushless, that is just over kill....

Great... take the alum axles so that i can see if they are worth the money:rolleyes:what ever you do don't get the plastic ones.....
i run a tekin fxr with a 55t motor combo and it is great .
the only bad thing about this kit and the weak point (for me that is) are the plastic axles they only look good ...:(
the r2 is great too :D make sure you lube it and all the cog-wheels in the axles good.
if you have any more Q just ask....

the plastics i have on mine are running great still!! but some people have better luck then others... i run a 2s lipo and a 50 turn motor and a momba max system.... the axles are plastic.... so there is some chance of breaking but if you just steer clear of the REALLY tight binds you should be good. lol... the alum will be unstopable.

Dude i've broke the C's on my axles running on flat ground!!!
and the tracgear Spool that was made from aluminum (and not from hardened Steel ) did not make it either...:

if you broke the c's on flat ground then that might be some thing in the servo.... but what ever... lol.... as for the gear i have done that too.... have you lubed the gears inside? i dont really see any on there.

Oh yes i did lubed all the gears man i just cleaned it all up for the pic
so the you can see how the cog wheel is destroyed...
if it was made from hardened steel, this would have not happened...it was not strong enough ...
i have a Tamiya high lift that i've run very very hard for three years now and never had any problem !!
i've had the TW kit for about three months now and i'm not running it hard as the HL and still it breaks...
i'm disappointed from the axles, the rest of the kit is ok...

i do agree with the gears i my self have gone through many of them but now i have them under control... i started to figure out my limits on them... but i know for a while there was some talk about making them stronger... the harder steel would be nice and the extra cost i dont think would be a big problem... cause they will last longer. lol.....

We working on a new gear already, there is a chance that it will come out very soon. I will be posting a better picture soon.
For T-Rex, we already use an imported German plastic compound. We will have a meet soon and see what else we can do. Billet axle C will be available very soon as well.

When I got my Diablo kit a few weeks ago I was wondering why there were an extra set of axle cases. After I lubed the gears, I Loctite-ed the case screws for the front axle, knowing that you cant overtighten the screws on anythig plastic for fear of breaking it. Well, I know why the exrta cases are included! I think a reinforced nylon would be a far better material for these cases, not some run of mill plastic. I may be new to the crawler world, but in the last 20 years I'v built it, raced it, broke it, and fixed it. Now don't get me wrong I like the kit alot and would buy it again, just sayin'.

Hey guys, when I post a thread here, there's no need to worry if you think I think you snatch it somehow so no worries (hope that didn't twist your mind). I only appreciate to read about your experiences...
They do take VISA on the web right? I noticed paypal and Visa icons on the page... The thing is that I come from Sweden with a paypal on a swedish bank and so on wich makes it a bit of a clusterf.ck for the german banks when it comes to transfer, so I'd rather stay away from the paypal if possible... I live in Germany these days close to the Dutch border in Düsseldorf if anyone's curious. ^^

Alright!
After the 15th this month I will take a look at my account... If it allows (fingers crossed since payment trouble from my company), there will be a Wolf order soon!:D I'm gonna hold my horses a bit considering the alum. axles though... I'll give the plastic ones a try first and hopefully they break just about when I can send the order for the " oh so awesome" axles.
Stay tuned!
All the best
(gotta say this is one of the most friendly forums I've visited btw...)

Alrigt the economy is on my side so the wolf WILL be on it's way after the 15th...
But I have a last question about the payment... There are only two options on the webshop: Paypal and check.
You say that Visa is accepted on the page? Do you use a card number or zip code to get your money or do I need to take your account number in some sort of way?
I'm feeling a bit dumb at the moment but please could you give me the nessescary payment informations??:o

On your third step of the check out, after you made your selection. You have the choice to pay with a Mastercard or Visa. It will ask for your card number, exp date and code from the back of the card.

Okay!
The thing is though that when I'm at the payment choice step, I only got paypal and the paycheck. I chose the paycheck and when I'm about to confirm the order it says that I must send the money to their specified adress... So what you mean is that I fill in the card numbers after I've pressed the confirm order button? and then the order is sent away?
Thank you for your help

finished a crawler build last night with t-rex 60 axles. after just a few front digs, the bevel gear shaft that connects to the drive shaft broke where the set screw hole is. Is this a weak spot? the replacement bevel gear shaft has the same part number as the one included in the complete axle kit.
when connecting the drive shaft to the axle, how far should the set screw be screwed in? It seems that having the hole in the shaft creates a weak point. I wish it just had a flat surface. Advice please. Thanks!

I'm already at work today. I will try to post pics tonight. Thinking of filling the hole in on the new shaft with solder.....when it gets here. I also have an ax10 crawler which does not have this hole and I have never had a problem.
