Is it possible to do a mod on the rc4wd transmiter to replace 2pos switch with 3pos switch?

i have done the traxxas TQ3 mod. It was basically removing the two pos switch and soldering the 3 pos switch. What if the same is done on the rc4wd transmitter.

I tried the same with our unit. But it didn't work.
