Sorry guys but it wont be today:o

The UPS guys showed up but with the wrong crawler in the box.

Instead of getting my Worminator I got a Rockbull 1/8 Comp Crawler Kit.

Well I'm waiting for RC4WD to contact me back on it and I will see what will happen.:(

I just hope I will get before Christmas.

Talk to you soon.

Wonder if you are ever going to get these? I keep waiting for updates. I am interested, but maybe not so much if they can never get them to the customers.

You are lucky.:p

I'm still waiting for mine to show up. It should be here today or tomorrow depending on hte transport, if tracking is correct.

Do you have some pics of it and what kind of pinion gear is in the kit if there's any????

Thanks:cool:

Finally it is here.:D

What a nice crawler it is. I will try to finish building it tomorrow after work.

Thanks to Mike and the guys at RC4WD to have done their best to sort out what happen with the wrong shipping. These guys are going out of their way to help you get what you ask for and they kept answering my mail even if I was angry at some point.:cool::cool:

Here is a pic of what I got.

The gearing is going to be crazy, I know worm gears are lower gearing but I turn the driveshaft by hand and the hub is barely turning. This is going to be some crawler.:)

Pics to come soon.;)

When you´ve finished the build, please post an articulation pic!

Thanks!

Sure, I will post pics of the articulation. ;)

But so far I had to go for other shocks, The stock one just kept binding and they don't have enough travel.rolleyes:

As soon as I have something to show I will post pics:cool:

Which shocks do you suggest?

Here is what I have done so far.:)

My problem with the stock shocks is that they don’t have enough travel to get the articulation that I want.:o I went with a set of Hot Racing shocks I had laying around. The shocks are 100mm and 67mm compressed which give me 33mm of travel compare to 20mm with the stock one.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Denispinz/Radio%20control/P1020601.jpg

The articulation is good now but I will have to work on the back, it is not to my liking yet.;)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Denispinz/Radio%20control/P1020602.jpg

It is going to be an awesome truck soon but a lot of work still to be done.:D Oh, by the way go for at least the medium spacer as you build your wheel or it will rub on the front knuckle.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/Denispinz/Radio%20control/P1020603.jpg

I have most of the electronics figure out but I will have to make a support for my battery that will fit over the tranny.

Thanks RC4WD for the great truck.:)

Thanks for the pics!

Mine's got poor articulation, too. Will try to change the shocks.

Great looking truck!

Thats a little bit to much movement. Need something in between. I think you would have like the stock shocks if you would have given them a try.

generally being able to fit another tire under the lifted one is a decent amount of articulation. To much can be as bad as not enough

bullitrockcrawler

I have to agree with both of you on to much articulation. But the stock shocks didn’t have the travel I needed. Don’t get me wrong theses are good shocks and I use RC4WD shocks on other of my rig and I like them. Now I have 100 mm long and 76mm compressed, these were the shocks I had in hand, I will go with 90 mm soon.

Now I have a problem with the transmission system. I run a 17.5t BL Tekin RS system and I have just enough power to go up a small incline. The truck is very slow even at full throttle and the drive shafts are badly out of balance, they make a crazy loud noise, remember that with the tranny having 1:1 ratio they turn at motor speed. I rechecked all the transmission shaft and worm gear to make sure I didn’t had binding nowhere and everything looks fine and the shaft are easily turn by hand even with the motor hook to it.

If I go with strong motor the RPM will drop down and I will loose even more wheel spin.:(

Do you any ideas to help me with this???

Thanks:cool:

I built in the electronics today and have the same problem with the driveshafts. Powered with a small outrunner, there's no chance to climb up a small incline. The car stops when turning the front wheels for cornering... Will try a brushed motor.

Is there anybody running a worminator, yet?

I am having the same problems with this kit. The shock "bind" seems to be due to the upper shock mounts being at the wrong angle, causing the shock mount pivot balls to be at their limit of movement thus causing them to "bind".

I have managed to cure this problem by using M3 threaded rod sent through the upper chassis mounts to correct the upper shock mount angle, which now allows full, smooth travel.

I have been looking on rccrawler at the Losi Comp crawler section which as you know also runs worms, and it seems they are having similar worm issues.

The general concensus is that worms are "in-eifficient" compared with regular axles, and as a result demand serious power in the form of 3 or 4s lipo with faster brushless motor and esc combo's being the key to lower temps and generally more power to prevent stall.

My current setup is a 2S goat Brushless with 2s lipo and it won't even crawl over a cushion without Causing serious motor stall and generating very high temps, something I've never experienced before in all my normal axle crawlers.

I have a mamba max esc and xl feigao motor which I am going to try on 4s lipo before I decide the worms are unsuitable, if there ain't enough power then , god help us !

As for the imbalenced prop shafts, i am going to try some revo props which will be much lighter and should spin at speed nicer than the very nice but very heavy stock shafts.

Have you been able to solve the problem of not having much climb power and the noise as described above? I just placed an order today for the Worminator and didn't see the thread beforehand. Thanks so much.
