RC4WD/GCM Skeleton J2 FJ Cruiser

Hey folks.

My Skeleton kit arrived last night. I had an hour to spare tonight and got it put together. It's a really nice kit, with a ton of adjustability built in. Nice and solid, with some very smart additions.


The kit comes packaged in GCM's usual organized packets.





Cool sticker! I wonder which talented dude made that...





The kit is all black anodized aluminum. Very trick. If you have any difficulty putting the kit together, I recommend watching GCM's Youtube videos. Really helps with assembly.





And here it is, all put together with the D35's underneath. Note: To use RC4WD axles, you will need to purchase the K44/D35/YotaII 4 link truss kits.






Very briefly, this was a Jeep.



I came to my senses and went with what I know.



I feel much better now.

For fun, I decided to make my own fender flares out of blue/green kneadatite. Very cool stuff, moulds nicely and maintains some flexibility.



Once painted and detailed, they look pretty good.

Nice work. Ya versatility in a kit is a real bonus. When the novelty of one body wears off it's nice to swap over to something else for a new look without forking out $$$ for a whole new RC chassis kit.

You can say that again!

Skeleton kit is something else. Great balance, rigidity, strength, and versatility. It did great on all manners of terrain. If you can get one, and you want to build a truck in this wheelbase, there's not much better out there. Headquake was kind enough to setup an 80 gate course through the park, and despite one roll, caused by a driver error the truck made it through with flying colours. I didn't use the RC4WD Warn winch today, but I will say that it's very strong, and super easy to operate. These D35 axles rule by the way. Nice and beefy, and come with XVD's right out of the package. Very happy with the complete package.



Sadly, I don't think I'll be doing a video of this guy, it's time to finish the FJ!

Looks excellent. Love how the tires don't stick out. Nice work too with the Kneadatite. That looks like some fun stuff to play with.

But, they look kinda sucky with the stock headlight surrounds.

Top tip, with nearly no modifications, Tamiya Hilux headlights fit a treat and look infinitely better.



Bits and pieces is all that's left. Oh, and a bumper.

Wrencher's done some great work so far with the bumper, but I'm keeping that under wraps until it's finished.

I brazed up some simple sliders today.



Roof rack got sprayed with some textured black and the interior got some felt for the headliner.



A n00b resin snorkel will complete the exterior nicely.



Now, for the hard question, one I'm pretty sure I know the answer to. I made up those extra-big fenders from Green/Yellow putty, and now I'm not sure on the look. With:

Just love this.... i didn't understand why Chris make the panhard set at the wrong side, by the way is a great chassis and the axle combo and rims/tyres are perfect
