    Rckcrwlr's RC4WD Gelande 2 w/Cruiser Body Kit

As the new year begins, so does the fun and innovation of RC4WD.

After 2 years in the making, it's time to introduce:

I came home to this on my porch

Peeling the address label off revealed something very interesting...What's a Cruiser Body Kit?

As I started opening the box, ideas of what innovative new product RC4WD was going to be starting 2015 out with, were racing through my mind....and then

I was so nervous to cut the factory seal...felt like I was cutting the tag off the mattress...(BTW, don't do that)

Upon opening the box it reviewed some new decals...who doesn't love stickers

The instruction book...and I say book, is amazing...

Detailed images with hardware needs listed.

The box is packed so incredibly well, everything has it's place and is secure.

First was some Body parts...check out the details

As with any build, you have to start by organizing the hardware. RC4WD does a great job of individually packaging and labeling all the parts.

This is a Gelande 2 chassis with some small modifications. I am not going to bore you with the step by step build but will show you the differences between the D90 and the Cruiser Kits.

Make sure you thread lock all the screws going into metal and also grease those axles, tranny and tcase gears.

First thing I noticed is the new body mounts. note that they are body clipped, not screws...

Another difference is the very cool front bumper. It includes hooks also.

The rear bumper has the lights built in.

Finally got time to work on the body...

There are a couple mold lines that you need to pay attention to...on the back corners of the tub and on the front fenders (I didn't notice the ones on the back corners of the top until I painted it...so check those too)

Using some fine sandpaper, work the lines out...

I use Tamiya's FINE Primer to cover the body. I first lightly scuffed the body. The finish is so good that you could get away with not painting it if you wanted that color.

Was having a problem with the rear light lenses when it came to color. Some of the limited pictures of this bumper on the web made both of them look red. Then I found this picture that helped with my decision.

It was time to start laying down some Yellow...

I let it cure overnight, hit it with a 5000 sand paper and then shot it for the final coat. Now it will cure for several days.

Should I go matte or gloss....
