    RC4WD Gelande II D110 Truck Kit w/Hard Body build/review

Hi guys newbie here from hawaii

This thread will be my review/build blog for my soon to arrived RC4WD d110 gelande 2
I should have this kit in a couple of days
I will make my own review of this kit no bias of any kind
I dont trust those with build blogs heheheh
I think they supposed to say nice things about the rig their building
So i decided to make my own build blog reviews of this rig

So lets start with the story of this D110 gelande 2

I have a shelf queen tf2 its my very first rc4wd
What do i think of the tf2?
Its quality is great i must say easy to follow manuals
Even a 10 years old can put it together
So i browse rc4wd site from time to time
When i saw that gelande d110 damn its a love at first sight lol
Watch it on youtube and loves it
So back to rc4wd making the order then check out time
I was in for a shocked shipping is insanely ridiculous
    250.00 wtf
Decided to check out other site like rpp
160 theres no way im paying for that much for shipping
    I checked out tower hobbies
Late march and shipping is less than a 100
So i decided to go with tower hobbies
My kit is already on its way to me

This will replace my tf2 queen shelf
Now the reason i got the kit
I have everything i needed to run this kit all electronics
Plus rtr is for kids hahahaha
Since im not good at fabrication of any kinds
Everything that rc4wd has to offer for this kit im going to get
    Like roof rack etc.

For general build tips, I'd definitely recommend the guide that I posted here on the forum (it's a sticky in this section). Overall, the mechanical and electrical stuff is pretty straightforward. The biggest task will be the interior, which takes a bit of fabrication. I have a build thread going here that is taking it step by step through that process. There are also some other D110 threads that can give you good ideas for the interior.
As you come across specific questions, fire away. We'll help as best we can.

Does the parts or upgraded parts for the d90 fits with the d110?
          Like the fender wells?

Glad to know i get some help here if needed
          Thank you

Ill be using this grease to protect from corrosion etc.
          And this thread lock

Which brings me to a question
What is the proper way to use thread lock?
Do i soaked the whole bolt or maybe just the tip of the bolt?

Use threadlock only on the tip, never on the whole bolt. Take care, one day you perhaps want to unscrew a bolt.... So better use it slightly....

In the end though, it all comes down to stick time...

So far this is what i think of this kit nust by looking at it

                Things i dont like

1 axles are exactly like the one from tf2
Im going to change this crap (very disappointed )

2 tranny is exactly like the tf2 except i think the tf2 looks better than the one on the d110
Tf2s shiny things this d110 is like dull lookin thing
No matter i guess you cant see it any way

                Things i like

1 chassis is a solid metal lol heavy metal
Aint like the tf2 i think this is going to be more rigid

More to come when i have time to build it

Oh did i mentioned i hate that damn axles lol
I thought itll come with yota2 axles very disappointed
Its a good thing i can get those

In the product desciption, it clearly calls out the new Yoya II axles.

The D110 comes with the Yota II axles, which are a little different from the original Yota axles that come with the TF2 (though they can look similar at first glance). One noticeable difference is that the main portion of the axle housing on the Yota IIs is single-piece vs. a 2-piece clamshell on the original Yotas. Both are good axles for a fairly wide range of uses. Apart from swapping from the stock dog-bones to XVDs for more steering, there's really not much you need to do with the Yota IIs for trailing and light- to medium duty crawling.

This the axles i was hoping for that comes with the kit
                      That differential cover is awesome
Thats the reason i dont like the axles that comes with the kit

Looks exactly like tf2 axles for real lol

This will be a shelf queen

Hmmm i just came up with an idea

Wouldnt it be great if rc4wd customers
Have a choice on the kit they wanted
Its like build your own kit like buying a real car hahahah
                        That would be awesome
Once your finished with what you want on your kit you can order it

Lol...it would be nice if we could custom configure everything like a car. But then it would probably be as expensive as a special-ordered car.

The picture you posted is of the K44 axles (which also come with a black diff cover - the red one is sold separately). If the red diff covers are all that you're looking for, they sell those for the Yota IIs and are a lot less expensive than replacing the entire axle:

This is what they look like on mine:

                          Good luck!

Ok the kit axles is like the tf2 axles
Its one piece no place to bolt that differential cover
That is why im very disappointed with this kit
I thought it would come with that yota 2 axles

Try watching the video again its one piece

I think this project of mine will turn in to money pit lol

The one-piece housing that you have is definitely the Yota II axle, not the original Yota that comes on the TF2. On the Yota 2, the stock diff cover is screwed into the axle housing from the inside, so you should be able to remove it to replace it with one of the red ARB covers. Have you tried getting to it from the other side of the axle by removing the pinion cover first (RC4WD calls that part the "third member" on their website)? If you're having trouble seeing how to do it, I may have time to get you some pix off of my D90 (which has the stock axles and diff covers) showing how to do it over the weekend.
