    How much weight ?

Automotive stick on weights (inside the rim) will increase traction.

But, how much weight to add?

origional rim weight was 0.8 lbs. each, tires & foams weight 1 lb.

so total weight was 1.8 lbs. 7.25 lbs total for four.

I applied a layer of 2 oz. to the inside of the front rims and a

layer of 1 oz. to the inside of the rear rims.

then i applied strapping tape over the weights to secure them.

resulting front 3.90 lbs. each and rear now weighs 3.20 lbs. each

all four tires now weigh 14.2 lbs.

    Wheel weight performance

    Old Sloppy, (nice)
You and I are running pretty much the same rig from what I've read.I'm very curious to know how your wheel weights are performing for you?I have been out of the loop of this forum for a couple months due to other hobby issues that have been captivating my weekends.Although I plan to go searching for a new location for challenging "The Old Rat Killer Krawler" this weekend.
I'm running the "Rock Crusher" tires on my rig and they seem to bounce around when I loose traction. I didn't read what tires your running. I'm curious to know and how the weights improved the performance for you.

      Freewheeling

      Old Sloppy,
After posting my last post I read you also run the Rock Crushers. Its amazing what you can discover by paying attention.
Anyway,I'm also wondering if you experience freewhweeling on downhills with your goats and if so what can be done about it?

if I was you I would not add any weight to the wheels....axles will snap...I would try to lighten it up if anything.
drag brake will stop your coasting...if you drag brake is turned up all the way then try getting bigger motors.

my dad put HH cobalt 7t's on his KK and it stops 1000X better then it did with cheap 540 style motors.

there both running brushless motors.. the drag brake will only do so much with them and then they freewheel. there not really cheap motors either..

              Just a little update,
I moved the rear tires to the front, removed all ( 2 oz. size) weights from the rear.
So far it works pretty darn well.
I have bouncing issues, I believe it involves the tire foams.
Perhaps they can be cut, to "soften" them up.
I am getting good results in spite of minor bouncing when spinning the tires.
one repeated failure is the front servo "arm" , the splines stripped away.
I will order aluminum servo arms soon.
I guess 425 ounces of torque is too much for nylon servo arms.
One more issue is my Novak Goat Crawler ESC's, front esc is stuck in "robotic mode 3" so I have no drag brake on that esc.
rear esc programs just fine and has enough drag brake to cover up the front not working.
I have a pair of clear plastic Novak 30 mm fans that look really cool (I do not believe they are needed) both esc's are stone cold and both 21.5 Novak motors are barely even slightly warm.
I will call Novak tomorrow morning, I a certian they will help me.

So it turns out the "drag brake" issue is actually in the motor and not in the ESC.

I have had 3 GoatCrawler ESC's (two origional ESC's and one replacement ESC)
first motor works great on all ESC's,
the second motor has no drag brake on any of the ESC's.
So it is a motor defect.
I have since sent the motor back to Novak for warr repair.

                  Just an update here..
Novak has replaced one of my motors ( warranty covered item) and now the Drag Brakes are working just fine.
I am quite pleased with my Novak brushless system.

Now I have recieved new tires, Roc-Lox 4.0
I have them mounted on Pro Line Cheyenne Narrow rims.
I need to wait till I have a day off to try them out.
They feel like Real soft/sticky coumpound rubber.
I have high hopes for these tires.
I have Rock Crushers 4.0 and The new tires are definetly taller and the tread design looks faviorable (spelling error) to rock climbing and stairs climbing.
The Rock Crushers tend to spin when stair climbing.
Right now the weather outside is frightfull and it is dark before I get home each day.
Perhaps this weekend I can make a video (I hope, I hope).

The Rok lox are some tall tires. They are super sticky and soft. They will look great on the KK.
