the ratio depends on the input pinion, but here is how to calculate the total ratio (according to my math at least):
I have added a (:1) on the gear ratios, to make it a little bit easier to understand, as you all might remember from school, dividing by 1 does nothing.
output-axle to idler-gear: 27:8=3,375(:1)
idler-gear to spur-gear: 24:8=3(:1)
that gives the spur-gear to output shaft a ratio of: 3,375x3=10(:1)
When you decide on a pinion you simply divide 24 (the number of tooths on the spur gear) by the number of tooths on the pinion.
Example with a 12T pinion: 24:12=2(:1)
then you will need to multiply all the gear ratios,
3,375x3x2=20,25(:1)
Example with a 8T pinion: 24:8=3(:1)
then you will need to multiply all the gear ratios,
3,375x3x3=30,375(:1)
