  • Rckcrwlr's "Da MAN" Truck

I was able to get the body panels painted. Laid down some Tamiya Fine Grey Primer and then the Bright Red.

    That's a lot of RED...

Chassis, Axles and other bits are Gun Metal

I need to be on vacation more often...getting a lot accomplished

If anyone has ever built one of these kits, you will know that there are thousands...and I mean thousands of screws...

    Got the Chassis together

One thing I do when building Tamiya kits is actually lay out all the needed items for each step. Makes it much easier when you are in the mists of building it.

Had to lose the "pink" shocks, so bathed them in some Easy Off Oven Cleaner

While they were soaking, I finished the front axle and suspension

Then started on the rear suspension with the leafs

It's actually starting to resemble something.

As I am building and pulling parts out, I am clean, primer and spray them if they are going to be exposed...thank God for my Paint Booth

Then it was time to attack the Tranny...Yikes

    More tomorrow....

I am enjoying this build. Takes some time but really goes together smoothly...Goal is to have it done by tomorrow.

Was able to get more work done on this. Sorry for not keeping up with this one...it's hard to take pics once you get rolling.

Got the tranny finished, built the axles and installed them. Also added the fenders and side panels...

Picked up a set of RC4WD Wheels (Disc) and RC4WD Roady Super Wides in the front and regular Roady Tires in the rear.

          It's now a roller...

Next is working on the Body...

Also picked up a Tamiya Multifunction Unit (MFU)...may attempt to install it...but wow, there are a lot of wires and parts.

With all the Semi's I have...I always wanted one of Tamiya's MultiFunction Units (MFU), but at $380...it really did not make sense...Until now...

I was able to get my hands on a load of stuff that a guy was selling. Well included in this was a NIB MFU.

When I looked at it, I thought...there is no way I can do it. But figured I would give it a try...

So I started with the easy stuff...

            Installing the Control Box:

I then installed the main unit and the vibrating motor...

Just to give you an idea how much stuff there is...this is the diagram for the control unit

This unit is the ESC, Sounds including Diesel, Air Brakes and Coupling the trailer...It will also drop the powered legs on a trailer if you have it set up that way.

Now comes the fun part of wiring the lights...

This has been a frustrating build...

Detailed the interior and dash in saddle tan...

Added all the MFU stuff in. Closed the cab and all the interior hits the MFU controller and vibration unit.

Now I need to remove it all and tint the windows so you don't see the mess inside...Not a problem...would rather have the MFU on this baby..

It's such a great feeling when you get a rig of this level done......

And then you have to tear it apart due to a noise in the tranny...

But got her back together and now it's parked on the shop wall...Waiting for some Acorn nuts to finish off the wheels...
